Parent consultations, in Prague and online

For when you're worried about your child but not sure what they need, or whether they need anything at all.

Questions this is for

  • Is what my child is going through normal?
  • Do they need coaching, or something more clinical?
  • Should we involve the school, and how?
  • Should we wait this out, or get support now?
  • How do I even start talking to my child about it?

What happens

Sixty minutes, with one or both parents and without your child. We go through what you're seeing, what may be behind it, and what you could do differently this week. Sometimes that is enough. Sometimes it becomes clear your child would benefit from coaching, or from a psychologist instead, and I'll tell you which.

Every family set-up is welcome, including separating parents and new couples bringing children from earlier relationships. If you're separated and only one of you comes, I'll be open about what I can and can't do; see working with separated parents.

Questions

Does my child need to be there?

No. A consultation is for you, or both of you together. It's designed for exactly the moment when you're not sure your child needs to be involved in anything yet.

What happens after the consultation?

Sometimes nothing more is needed: you leave with a clearer picture and something to try. Sometimes coaching for your child, or a referral to a different specialist, makes sense. Both are good outcomes.

Can a parent consultation be online?

Yes, by video from anywhere, or in person in Prague. Separated parents can also come separately, if that works better.
